Proud of my dad:D

Today after school, after that ev(external validation) thing which was suppose to end latest by 3( for your info, it ended at 3.10) My father was fetching me, so i can't afford to be late even by 1 minute, because today's my dad's big day:D He works in the army, and he's stepping down from a post to another, the pay's the same, but the rank is lower. My siblings and my mother don't understand why my father wanted to do that, because firstly he has been in khatib camp for so many years, and now that he changed post, he has to work in jurong camp. Then, my mother told me that my dad stepped down so that the surbodinates below him can rise up in ranks. i find my dad really self-sacrifitional. i don't really know la, but generally, who would want to step down? seriously, i admire my dad for that. And because he's stepping down and handing over to another person, they held a "ceromony" for him.

about 3 1/2 years ago, my family went and saw our father being handed down the post. and now he's handing over. So they screened a video first, and it was quite funny because it was my dad in his younger days, so i just BURST OUT LAUGHING with my sister but compared to my laughter, hers wasn't as loud, so i was like the only mad person laughing. but it's really comical. my dad look like some cute ninja turtle in the older army uniform and some green helmet thingy with a backpack( one of the old photos) so throughout the video, they were also comments from his surbodinates and bosses. Then, my father gave a speech, something which he wrote for a few nights and cutting it down from 17 pages to 9 pages. At the start, his speech was really funny, i mean the people in the auditorium were laughing, though some parts i don't really understand because of the army lingo! Then it came to the more serious part where he talked about his values which were meaningful and relating his personal experience.

After his sharing of the values, he started thanking people, everyone who made it possible, and if i'm not wrong, my dad has work in that formation of artillery for 33 years, 9 months and 23 days! when my dad was thanking people, i thought i heard his voice break. Then i realised something! My dad was actually crying. Since i was born, that was the FIRST TIME i ever saw my dad so emotional. He actually cried. Then, i looked around, and i saw some people crying as well. i felt sad for my dad too. It's not that easy to leave without feeling any emotions, esp when he worked in that particular place for almost 34 years of his life, dedicated his time and hard work! When the various groups were presenting my father with prizes, i swelled with pride. He looked so smart in his uniform, that familiar smile, but that unfamiliar teary eyes. I felt like giving my dad the longest standing ovation! I think he really impacted some people with his values in life.

I'M JUST SO PROUD OF MY DAD!
